1. Introduction

Changara Star Academy ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the personal information of students, parents, guardians and visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

This policy covers the Computer Studies Holiday Tuition Registration system and all associated school services.

2. Information We Collect

During registration for the Computer Studies Holiday Tuition:

• Student name, current school, grade/class, and age — used to identify and place the student correctly.
• Parent/guardian name and phone number — used solely to contact the guardian about the application, payment, and programme arrangements.
• Optional fields (alternative phone, residence, computer experience, learning preferences) — used to improve the learning experience.
• Consent timestamp and IP address — recorded to verify that consent was given.

We do NOT collect:

• National ID numbers
• Birth certificate numbers
• Financial information beyond what is needed for payment records
• Passwords or device identifiers

3. How We Use Information

• To process and review your application for the Computer Studies Holiday Tuition.
• To contact the parent or guardian regarding registration status, payment, and programme arrangements.
• To issue a unique registration reference for future communication.
• To record tuition payments and maintain a payment ledger.
• To send SMS notifications (only if enabled by the school and when SMS configuration is complete).

We do not use this information for marketing or share it with third parties, except where required by law.

4. Data Storage and Security

All registration data is stored in a secure Supabase PostgreSQL database. Access is restricted to authorized school administrators via JWT-based authentication. The database uses Row Level Security with no public access policies — only the school's backend Worker (using a service-role key) can read or write data.

Nevertheless, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Retention

Registration records are retained for the duration of the programme plus seven years, in line with Kenyan educational record-keeping expectations. Parents may request deletion of their child's record by contacting the school office.

6. Cookies and Tracking

This website does not use tracking cookies or analytics scripts that follow visitors across sessions. Any temporary session data needed for the registration form is discarded after the session ends.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
